Jaipur City Palace History
The City Palace was built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II. He moved from Amber to Jaipur in 1727 due to water problems and an increase in population. He entrusted the architectural design work of City Palace to the chief architect Vidyadhar Bhattacharya. According to Vastu Shastra texts, the architect went to design the City Palace. The City Palace complex is spread over a large area in one-seventh of the old city of Jaipur.
It is a sequence of gardens, buildings, courtyards, temples, and museums, giving it grandeur. Its outer boundary was built by Raja Jai Singh while other parts were built by his successors.
