By 1933, he had built 15 air stations in Marwar and also built electricity and light facilities, control towers, petrol-stores, and two runways at Jodhpur Airport. One for the runway public and the other for the runway Maharaja's private airplane. From time to time, Maharaja Ummed Singh Ji kept getting necessary and modern construction work done at the airport. He also got a building constructed for Assistant Aerodrome Officer.

The most important thing about Jodhpur Airport is that during the Second World War, in 1938-39 more than 1000 aircraft flew from here. At that time this airport was very helpful for the Royal Air Force. Apart from this, Jodhpur Air Base was actively effective even during the Kargil War of 1999.

Maharaja Umaid Singh Ji himself had knowledge of operating the aircraft and he also had 3 private aircraft of Sport, Cromper Sweet, and Prasivalgal. The fourth plane, Leopard Moth, was gifted to Maharaja by Seth Bhagchand Soni.

Maharaja Umaid Singh Ji had made a lot of efforts to make Jodhpur Airport an international airport, but it could not happen. But he set up a flying club for the general public of Jodhpur so that people can enjoy an aerial tour of Jodhpur city and see the city from a different perspective.
