Desert Culture Centre and Museum

The folk-cultural museum located at the Gadseer Sarovar of Jaisalmer is the main center of attraction for tourists coming from the country and abroad, in which the extinct culture of Maru region has been cherished. In the museum, objects related to folk life, historical documents, paintings, plaques, caravans, coins, clay artifacts, folklores, textiles, jewelery, portraits of kings and kings, fossils, locks, antimony, bullock carts, puppets, camels and horses The decoration of the objects has been performed in the decoration of the objects, the chants of the amalgam, the hookahs, the kavadas as well as the statues of the ancestors-goddesses and folk deities. 


This museum was founded in 1984 by local teacher Nandkishore Sharma. He wandered from village to village and collected display items and set up a museum in three rooms for rent in the garden of sevagas. In the year 1986, Sharma joined the Jaisalmer historians, poets, writers and folk artists and formed the 'Kavi Tej Lok Kala Vikas Samiti'. In 1997, a new building was built for this museum, which was inaugurated on 1 February 1997 by then Vice President K.K. R. Done by Narayanan. The terracotta palace displayed in the first room of the museum is the main center of attraction for visitors. In the second room, various clothes, pearl-manak works, costumes of different castes, makeup-cosmetics, brass-copperware, lamps, Gangaur-Isar statues, etc. are displayed. Pictures of Raja Ravi Varma are also the main subjects of attraction.
